UW-L Goes Undefeated at Olivet Duals; Three Wrestlers Compete at Auggie Open

Olivet, Mich. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse wrestling team went 4-0 at the Olivet College Comet Duals Saturday.
The Eagles, ranked third in the Brute-Adidas National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III, opened the day with a 41-3 victory over Ohio Northern University before earning a 25-6 win over the College of Mt. St. Joseph (Ohio). UW-L then defeated Baldwin-Wallace College (Ohio) 44-4 and finished the duals with a 33-6 win over Olivet.
UW-L took nine of 10 matches against Ohio Northern, ranked 26 th in the NWCA. The Eagles then won eight matches versus Mt. St. Joseph and nine against 20th ranked Baldwin-Wallace. UW-L captured eight of 10 matches in its victory over ninth-ranked Olivet.
The Eagles went 34-6 in individual matches Saturday, including Dan Laurent at 285-pounds who finished 4-0 overall. He recorded one win by fall. Laurent is ranked seventh at 285-pounds. Jordan Kolinski (133), Dan Crone (141), Tim Palmer (165) and Josh Chelf (174) all went 3-0 for UW-L. Kolinski is ranked fifth in the country while Crone is fourth. Palmer and Chelf are both currently ranked first in NCAA Division III in their weight classes.
Ryan Farwell (149), Matt Mauseth (149), Cory Ferguson (157), Josh Zabel (184), Brenden Faust (184), Andy Moore (197) and Tim Winker (197) each went 2-0 Saturday. Zabel recorded one win by fall.
UW-L's Pat Parrillo finished 2-1 at 125-pounds with one victory by fall while Kevin Barber (141) and Dan Schulte (174) both went 1-0. Other results for the Eagles included: Brandon Music going 0-2 (0-1 at 125; 0-1 at 133); Jay Milz 0-2 at 157 and Jeff Erkel 0-1 at 165.

At the Auggie Open in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Nate Willaert placed fifth at 157-pounds with a 3-1 record. He had one win by fall. Eric Seppelt went 1-3 and placed eighth at 149-pounds for UW-L while Mitch Brekke finished 0-2 at 165-pounds.
UW-L returns to action Thursday, November 29 hosting UW-Platteville at 7 p.m.
