UW-L Earns Season Sweep of UW-Superior

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team earned a season sweep of UW-Superior with a 73-40 victory over the Yellowjackets Saturday afternoon in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles improve to 10-10 overall and 5-6 in the WIAC while the Yellowjackets fall to 4-15 overall and 1-10 in the conference.
UW-L never trailed in the contest, taking a 15-8 lead with 10:28 remaining in the first half. The Yellowjackets cut the lead to 19-16 with 8:18 left, but the Eagles finished the half on a 17-6 run to lead 36-22.
UW-Superior could get no closer than 14 points in the second half. They cut the lead to 38-24 with 18:13 left, but UW-L went on a 10-2 run to lead 48-26 with 15:19 remaining.
Lindsay Wahl led UW-L with 19 points, finishing four-of-eight from the field and 11-of-14 at the free throw line. Dana Churchill added 10 points, also going four-of-eight from the field, including two-of-three from three-point range. Mackenzie Hunter scored nine points for the Eagles. Wahl, Churchill and Hunter tied for the team lead with four rebounds each.
UW-L shot 50.0% from the field, including 30.0% (three-of-10) from three-point range. The Eagles were 20-of-27 (74.1%) at the free throw line.
Kelsey Thingvold led UW-Superior with nine points while Amanda Rounsville added eight points. UW-Superior shot 40.5% from the field, including 22.2% (two-of-nine) from three-point range. The team was four-of-10 (40.0%) at the line.
UW-L returns to action Wednesday, February 6 at UW-Platteville at 7 p.m.
