UW-L Finishes 18th at NCAA III Championships

Northfield, Minn. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's cross country team placed 18th at the NCAA Division III Championships Saturday afternoon at the St. Olaf College Cross Country Trails in Northfield, Minnesota. The Eagles finished with 452 points.

Amherst College (Mass.) won the national title with 120 points while Plattsburgh State (N.Y.) finished second with 159. Washington University, Mo. (194), Calvin College, Mich. (199) and Geneso State, N.Y. (249) rounded out the top-five. UW-Eau Claire placed eighth overall with 285 points while UW-Platteville was 12th with 366. A total of 32 teams took part in the national championships.

UW-L has now recorded top-20 finishes in all 24 years it has competed at the NCAA III Championships. The Eagles captured the 1983 national title and were 15th last season.

Individually, UW-L's Katelynn Williams placed 55th overall Saturday with a time of 22:33 on the 6,000-meter course. The Eagles' Meghan Dugan finished 106th (23:01) while Kristen Howe was 113th (23:04).

The Eagles' Megan Johnson finished 175th (23:27) overall while Jenna Gerten was 189th (23:33), Zoe Browne 205th (23:39) and Lauren Moss 211th (23:42). A total of 280 runner participated in this year's NCAA III Championships. Sarah Zerzan of Willamette University (Ore.) took the overall individual title with a time of 20:54.
