UW-L Competes at Lake Wissota Meet; Bennwitz Wins Individual Championship

Chippewa Falls, Wis. The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's cross country team competed at the Lake Wissota Meet Friday night in Chippewa Falls. No team scores were kept.
UW-L's Kristina Bennwitz took the individual title, winning the 5,000-meter race in 19:06. The Eagles took the top-five places as Rachel Boldt was second (19:17) followed by Whitney Nefstead (19:32), Ellen Kumm (19:39) and Michelle Horn (19:42).
Katie Porter was seventh (19:49) for UW-L while Amanda John placed ninth (19:55) and Bea Foley 10th (20:00).
Other finishers in the top-20 included: Melissa Palmer 12th (20:06), Kayla La Porte 14th (20:16), Angela Reed 15th (20:16), Mary Olson 17th (20:19), Amy Luell 19th (20:20) and Caitlin Helgesen 20th (20:25).
UW-L returns to action Saturday, October 27 at the WIAC Championships at Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wisconsin at 11 a.m.
