UW-L Finishes Ninth at Neubauer Invite; Williams Top Finisher

West Salem, Wis. The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's cross country team placed ninth at the Tori Neubauer Invitational Saturday morning at Maple Grove Golf Course in West Salem. The Eagles, ranked 14th in NCAA Division III, finished with 217 team points. The University of Minnesota took the team title with 120 points while South Dakota State University was second (138) followed by UW-Eau Claire (141), UW-Platteville (155) and Nebraska Wesleyan (170) to round out the top-five.
St. Olaf, Minn. placed sixth (181) followed by Luther, Iowa (195), Wartburg, Iowa (200), UW-La Crosse (217) and North Dakota State (247) in the top-10. A total of 27 teams participated.
Katelyn Williams was UW-L's top finisher, placing 21st overall with a time of 23:02.97 on the 6,000-meter course. Becca Jordahl of UW-River Falls took the individual title (21:45.99) while Janet Dobyns of Luther was second (21:48.69) and Nora Narloch of North Dakota State third (22:14.78). Iowa Central's Lydia Kosgei placed fourth (22:18.63) and South Dakota State's Caitlin Berry was fifth (22:20.67). A total of 444 runners finished the race.
The Eagles' Megan Johnson placed 24th overall (23:07.54) while Jenna Gerten was 49th (23:38.92). Other UW-L finishers in the top-100 included: Zoe Browne 60th (23:45.87), Meghan Dugan 63rd (23:48.86); Emily Watson 71st (23:54.60); Lauren Moss 72nd (23:55.48) amd Kristina Bennwitz 74th (23:55.95).
