UW-L Finishes Third at St. Olaf Invite; Howe Top Runner for Eagles

Northfield, Minn. The UW-La Crosse womens cross country team opened its 2007 season with a third-place finish at the St. Olaf Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Eagles, ranked 13th in NCAA Division III, finished with 168.0 team points. UW-Eau Claire captured the team title with 97.0 points while St. Olaf was second with 142.0.
UW-Platteville (176.0) and Wartburg College, Iowa (189.0) rounded out the top-five. A total of 25 teams competed on the 6,000-meter course.
Kristen Howe was UW-L's top finisher, placing 12th overall with a time of 23:11. The Eagles had two other top-25 finishers as Katelyn Williams was 24th (23:42) and Megan Johnson 25th (23:45).
Other individual finishers for the Eagles included: Erin Farley placing 53rd (24:16), Meghan Dugan 54th (24:17), Rachel Boldt 55th (24;18), Allison Kolinski 56th (24:18) and Michelle Horn 57th (24:19).
Also competing for UW-L were Lauren Moss placing 65th (24:26), Ellen Kumm 67th (24:28), Rachel DeDeyn 70th (24:30), Emily Watson 77nd (24:42), Whitney Nefstead 79th (24:44) and Kristina Bennwitz 85th (24:46).
