UW-L Defeats Beloit College in Season Opener; Wilde Scores Twice

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team opened its 2009 season with a 4-1 victory over Beloit College (Wis.) Tuesday night. It was the first match played at the newly constructed Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. Beloit falls to 0-1 on the season with the loss.
The Eagles' Lindsay Wilde scored the first two goals of the match at 3:50 and 23:38. Saskia Taylor assisted on Wilde's first goal off a corner kick.
The Buccaneers cut the lead to 2-1 at 37:51 as Molly Dickson scored with assists from Anna Blankschien and Clare Koxterkamp.
UW-L tallied twice in the second half, including Taylor at 73:28 with Jessica Liban recording an assist. Sarah Kemmerick finished the scoring at 88:43 assisted by Sarah Joost.
The Eagles outshot the Buccaneers, 31-13, including 19-12 in the first half. Sagan Pizzingrilli recorded the win in goal, notching five saves. Katie Schurr had nine saves for Beloit.
UW-L returns to action Sunday, Sept. 6 hosting Augsburg College (Minn.) at 3 p.m.
