UW-L Defeats Cornell College; Cory Scores Twice

Mount Vernon, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team improved to 2-1 on the season with a 5-1 win at Cornell College Saturday afternoon. Cornell drops to 1-2 on the season with their loss.

Amy Cory scored twice for the Eagles while Ramsey Weyenberg, Aimee Schneider and Amy Warren each tallied one goal for UW-L. Cory scored her first goal at 12:36 while Weyenberg scored at 19:53 and Schneider at 21:57 as the Eagles raced out to a 3-0 lead.

Cornell made it 3-1 at halftime after a goal at 32:09, but Warren scored at 60:30 for a 4-1 lead Cory notched her second goal at 84:37 for the final margin of 5-1.

Each team finished with 14 shots. Amanda Clark made 11 saves for UW-L while Shawna Becker finished iwht 12 for Cornell.

UW-L returns to action Sunday, September 9 at Simpson College (Iowa) at 1 p.m.
