UW-L Falls to UW-Whitewater

La Crosse, Wis. - The UW-La Crosse women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) match to UW-Whitewater Friday afternoon at Veterans Courts. The Eagles fall to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the WIAC while the Warhawks improve to 10-0 overall and 5-0 in the conference.
UW-Whitewater took five of six singles matches. Kalla Schaefer defeated Kelly Stadum at No. 1 (6-4, 6-2) for the Warhawks while Annie Smith beat Katie McDonald at No. 3 (6-3, 6-4) and Amy Siemon defeated Carlie Bohrman at No. 4 (7-6, 6-3). UW-Whitewater's Michelle Daciolas defeated Mara Weiner at No. 5 singles (7-5, 6-2) and Kathleen Kappel beat Jenny Maruyama at No. 6 (5-7, 6-4, 7-6).
UW-L's Kelly Kuether earned the win at No. 2 singles, defeating Ingrid Stensvaag (6-0, 4-6, 7-6).
The Eagles took two of three doubles matches Friday. Stadum/Kuether defeated Schaefer/Daciolas at No. 1 (8-3) while Bohrman/Sarah Schoenwaelder beat Stensvaag/Smith at No. 2 (8-6). UW-Whitewater's Siemon/Kelly Rutkowski defeated UW-L's Maruyama/McDonald at No. 3 doubles (8-4).
UW-L returns to action Saturday, Oct. 10 hosting UW-Oshkosh at 10 a.m. in Mitchell Hall.
