Schetter Named National Indoor Field Athlete of the Year

New Orleans, La. – UW-La Crosse junior Caitlin Schetter of Kiel (H.S.) has been selected the 2008 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Indoor Track and Field Women's Field Athlete of the Year.

Schetter set a facility record at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Championships March 1 as she won the triple jump title with a mark of 37-2 1/2.

She also placed second in the long jump (18-5) at the conference championships February 29. For her efforts, Schetter was named the WIAC Field Performer of the Meet.

She currently has the top long jump in the country and is ranked fifth in the triple jump heading into this weekend’s NCAA Division III Championships. She was named the USTFCCCA Midwest Field Athlete of the Year March 12.

UW-L starts competition at the NCAA III Indoor Championships Friday, March 14 in Ada, Ohio.
