UW-L Falls at UW-Whitewater in WIAC Semifinals

Whitewater, Wis. The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team, 17th in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) rankings, fell 3-0 (30-20, 30-18, 31-29) at UW-Whitewater Friday night in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Tournament Semifinals. UW-L will now play UW-Eau Claire in the third-place match Saturday, November 3 at noon.
UW-L falls to 23-9 with its loss to UW-Whitewater while the Warhawks improve to 30-4. UW-Whitewater, ranked seventh in the country, advance to play UW-Platteville in the tournament championship match Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Amber Schoonover led UW-L with 10 kills against UW-Whitewater while adding 10 digs. Katelyn Carlson, Nina Walch and Kaci O'Connell each finished with six kills. Carlson had a team-high 19 digs while Melannie Tate added 14 and Brianne Stankus 13.
Samantha Dries totaled 24 assists for the Eagles.
UW-L hit .143 as a team.
Abby Schultz led UW-Whitewater with 17 kills and 22 digs while hitting .385 with 17 kills and two errors in 39 attempts. Carley Polk added 10 kills while Kate Lazotte had 45 assists. The Warhawks hit .319 as a team.
UW-L returns to action Saturday, November 3 against UW-Eau Claire in the WIAC Tournament Third-Place match at noon in Whitewater.
