Barbara has served as the Associate Dean for Campus Climate and Diversity since 2008. Previous to this position she was Director of the office of Multicultural Student Services and had been in that position since 1999. Barbara achieved her Masters and Bachelors degrees at Iowa State University. She has worked in the areas of housing, multicultural affairs and diversity. Barbara enjoys working with students and in addition, exploring new ways to promote issues around diversity.

Hired as Campus Climate’s Communications & Program Coordinator in August of 2006, Amanda brings interpersonal communication strengths and graphic design skills obtained from her undergraduate education at UW-Platteville. There she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications in 2001, and after spending three years working in the graphic design world, Amanda went on to receive her M.S.E. at UW-La Crosse in 2006. Shaped by her educational and personal experiences, Amanda brings a commitment to cross-cultural understanding and a passion for creating awareness. She feels fortunate to be in a position where she can work to enhance the campus climate, champion social justice issues and create positive change within the UW-L campus community and beyond.

Matt is currently the program coordinator and administrative specialist for the Campus Climate Office. He earned his bachelor of science degree in business management and human resources in 2006, spent a year as a Hall director at Saint Mary’s University, then received a master’s in Student Affairs Administration at UW-L in 2009. Matt is a life-long learner, teacher and ally. He enjoys sharing his passion about social justice with others. He treasures the opportunity to be a positive force in the lives of students, colleagues and friends.

Director of LGBTQA Services & Programs

Will is currently the Director of LGBTQA Services and Programs for the campus. He also serves as the Director of the Pride Center. Will earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation in 1992 and his Masters of Science in Education in 1997 both from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. He has worked at UW-L since 2001 first in University Centers and currently in Campus Climate and Diversity. Shaped by his life experiences and education, Will provides trainings, workshops, leads panel discussions, campus programming and is an advocate, support and presence to faculty, staff and students. Will feels honored to serve the campus community and to work on issues of social justice and diversity.

A UW-La Crosse alumni, Carrie earned her Bachelor of Art degrees in Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies and Spanish. After graduating in May of 2010, she left La Crosse to serve as an AmeriCorps Volunteer in Little Rock, AR. After a year away, she found her way back “home,” better known as Campus Climate. She is excited to connect with students and help facilitate the positive experiences and learning opportunities that so enriched her own college career. She loves learning about social justice and she is looking forward to continuing that journey as a part of the UW-L community.

Angela Marinello is a junior at La Crosse this year, with hopes of going into education. After a life-altering move across the state from inner-city Milwaukee to rural Rice Lake, WI, Angela has witnessed firsthand the importance of awareness and open-mindedness, and feels the need to share it with others. She feels fortunate to be able to work with a group of people who are working towards such a powerful goal.

Katee Jo is currently a graduate student in the Student Affairs Administration program at UW-La Crosse. She earned her bachelor of science degree in education in 2009 and spent two years teaching English overseas in Myanmar. After realizing her passion of working with students outside of the classroom, especially in the areas of social justice and service learning, Katee Jo decided to return home in hopes of turning her love into a daily reality. She has recently joined Campus Climate's staff in an effort to identify potential service learning opportunities for its students. She is excited to share her passion for diversity and her love for cultural understanding.

Campus Climate Graduate Intern

Natalie is an alumni of UW-La Crosse, where she earned her Bachelor of Art in Psychology and Spanish in May 2010. After graduating she interned at the Universidad de Ciencias Empresariales y Sociales in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Now, she has returned to La Crosse in pursuit of a graduate degree in Student Affairs Administration. Natalie also works in the Leadership and Involvement Center on campus, and is continually in search of ways to combine interacting with university students and promoting equality in all of humanity. She is very excited to gain experience in the Campus Climate Office where she will be able to gain more knowledge and experience in the areas she is most passionate about (not to mention working with amazing people)! Her goal is to create a service learning project tailored to educate and immerse students in social justice learning for the current and previous Awareness through Performance participants.

Jeni Roberts is a senior this year at UW-L. Her majors are Sociology and Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies and she plans on continuing on to graduate school for Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education after she graduates from UW-L in Spring of 2012. She first became interested in the work that the Campus Climate Office does after she became a member of Awareness through Performance last year. She is passionate about social justice issues and enthusiastic about her role in the Campus Climate Office. She looks forward to learning more and helping to further the mission of the office. In addition to her work in Campus Climate, Jeni is also the Gender Issues Director for UW-L Student Association.

Campus Climate Undergraduate Research Intern

Jackie is a senior studying Sociology and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at UW-L. She became involved with Campus Climate after her first season in Awareness Through Performance in the Fall of 2010. She has since been a part of two more ATP troupes and has found her passion for social justice and commitment to changing the world growing and strengthening. Jackie plans on moving to San Francisco, California after graduating before eventually pursuing a Ph.D in education and advocacy. She is leaning towards becoming a college professor but she's keeping all of her options open.
