Barbara has served as the Associate Dean for Campus Climate and Diversity since 2008. Previous to this position she was Director of the office of Multicultural Student Services and had been in that position since 1999. Barbara achieved her Masters and Bachelors degrees at Iowa State University. She has worked in the areas of housing, multicultural affairs and diversity. Barbara enjoys working with students and in addition, exploring new ways to promote issues around diversity.

Hired as Campus Climate’s Communications & Program Coordinator in August of 2006, Amanda brings interpersonal communication strengths and graphic design skills obtained from her undergraduate education at UW-Platteville. There she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications in 2001, and after spending three years working in the graphic design world, Amanda went on to receive her M.S.E. at UW-La Crosse in 2006. Shaped by her educational and personal experiences, Amanda brings a commitment to cross-cultural understanding and a passion for creating awareness. She feels fortunate to be in a position where she can work to enhance the campus climate, champion social justice issues and create positive change within the UW-L campus community and beyond.

Matt is currently the program coordinator and administrative specialist for the Campus Climate Office. He earned his bachelor of science degree in business management and human resources in 2006, spent a year as a Hall director at Saint Mary’s University, then received a master’s in Student Affairs Administration at UW-L in 2009. Matt is a life-long learner, teacher and ally. He enjoys sharing his passion about social justice with others. He treasures the opportunity to be a positive force in the lives of students, colleagues and friends.

Will is currently the Director of LGBTQA Services and Programs for the campus. He also serves as the Director of the Pride Center. Will earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation in 1992 and his Masters of Science in Education in 1997 both from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. He has worked at UW-L since 2001 first in University Centers and currently in Campus Climate and Diversity. Shaped by his life experiences and education, Will provides trainings, workshops, leads panel discussions, campus programming and is an advocate, support and presence to faculty, staff and students. Will feels honored to serve the campus community and to work on issues of social justice and diversity.

Yang Cha Thao is a first year graduate student in the Student Affairs Administration program at UW-La Crosse. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation in December of 2012. As an undergrad student she was involved in many organizations, activities, and events. Her belief is that all students should have equal rights and responsibilities regardless of race, gender, abilities, belief, or background. She wants to help students be successful in their fields of study; she wants to be a role model for other first generation, low income, and underrepresented students; and she wants to help higher education to create a more inclusive community based on equality, respect, and dignity. She is proud and looking forward to work with the Campus Climate staff to achieve these goals!

Campus Climate Graduate Assistant

Angela Birrittella is a graduate student in UW-La Crosse's Student Affairs Administration program. In 2008 she graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in Theater and Drama. At Madison, Angela cultivated a love for student affairs while working as the Support Services Specialist at the LGBT Campus Center. After graduation, Angela moved to New York where she worked with students from over 40 different countries as the Residential and Host Family Coordinator for Education First's premier International Language School. Angela is excited and honored to be able to celebrate diversity with the UW-La Crosse community.

Diversity & Inclusion Educator

Kayla is a graduate student in the Student Affairs Administration program at UW-La Crosse. She recently relocated to La Crosse with her partner and their son, Alden. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in English Linguistics from UW-Eau Claire. While a student there, she was active in the TRIO program Student Support Services and a student organization she co-founded for students with children. Because of her involvement with these groups, working with underrepresented students and exploring diversity on college campuses became a passion for her. She is currently working with the Campus Climate office and Western Technical College as a Diversity and Inclusion Educator and cannot wait to see where her career takes her.
