Michael Bernhagen and Terry Kaldhusdal and co-producers of the highly acclaimed PBS film "Consider the Conversation: A Documentary on a Taboo Subject". In this 90 minute presentation, Mike and Terry will: 1) share the story of their personal calling to this important grassroots project; 2) screen 45-minutes of clips from the film, 3) discuss lessons learned, and 4) provide “behind the scenes” analysis from the producers’ perspective.
Objectives:
- Better understand the physical, emotional, spiritual and social burdens associated with gradual dying.
- Be able to identify the ethical and physical dilemmas that have been created by advances in medical technology and treatments over the past 40 years.
- Become more aware of the need for providing patients and families with timely and comprehensive communication at the end-of-life.
