Program Overview

Includes five hours of 'hands-on' workshops

The 2009 Wisconsin Lower Extremity Symposium and Workshops is a professional program for practicing clinicians. This examination, rehabilitation and techniques improve your knowledge and skills in the treatment of orthopedic and sports injuries. Five hours of hands-on workshop experience are included in this intensive course.

Workshop Highlights

  • NSAID use in rehabilitation
  • Imaging
  • Subcategorizing low back pain and sacro-iliac joint dysfunction
  • Proximal muscle weakness and the effects on the kinetic chain
  • Hamstring injuries
  • Current concepts in surgery including “double-bundle” ACL and multiligamentous reconstructions
  • Biomechanical gait evaluation and clinical treatment applications
  • Bike fitting for injury prevention

Goals and Objectives

Participants will:

    1. Have an increased understanding of the anatomy and biomechanics of the lower extremity.
    2. Learn various subjective and physical examination techniques for detecting pathologies.
    3. Be exposed to diverse medley of treatment and rehabilitative strategies for a variety of conditions including: progressive resisted exercise, plyometrics, flexibility exercises, open and closed kinetic chain treatment ideas.
    4. Participate in “hands-on” labs for examination and rehabilitative techniques for the treatment of lower extremity and low back injuries.
