Christmas at The Mitchell Park Dones, Milwaukee Art Museum with time for shopping!
Continuing Education in the Arts wants jump-start your holidays with an art and garden tour in Milwaukee, Wis.
The First Stop will be at the Milwaukee Museum of Art. You won’t want to miss this special exhibit; Andy Warhol: The last Decade and Figurative Prints – 1980’s Rewind. Additionally, the museum Collection includes nearly 20,000 works from antiquity to the present. Permanent holdings include: Old Masters and 19th and 20th C. art, American decorative arts, German Expressionism and much more. Check other exhibits at www.mam.org
Then we are off to our hotel located in downtown Milwaukee. Once you have checked into your room, the remainder of the day and evening is “on your own.” You can talk a walk along the Milwaukee River walk, only 0.1 miles from the hotel. Here you will find pubs, and restaurants. You might want to try out these places to eat; Rock Bottom Brewery, Applebee’s, Crawdaddy’s, Giovanni’s, Mo’s Place for Steak and much more. The hotel in also only 0.4 miles to the Historic Third Ward, and the Theatre District 0.2 miles. If you have time, make a quick stop at the Grand Ave. Downtown Shopping Mall, they are open until 6pm on Saturday, and are only 0.1 miles from the hotel. While you are out and about, you will also have the pleasure of the Downtown Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival.
Sunday you will get to enjoy the first weekend of Mitchell Park Conservatory Domes Holiday Show: “A Children’s Christmas” Your self guided tour will take you through the formal Japanese garden, a street in Dickens’ London or a Caribbean beach Arid Dome; Africa, Madagascar, South America and Mexico are represented in this dome Tropical Dome; includes 450 species of tropical plants and much more.
But that’s not all; the trip will end with a stop at the Tangers Mall in Wisconsin Dells (www.tangeroutlet.com/wisconsindells) to pick up some bargains for yourself or gifts for the upcoming holidays.
