Contemporary diagnosis and treatment of ADHD is a controversial issue in the fields of mental health and education. This workshop will provide objective and updated information about the empirically supported psychological and medical knowledge in the field of ADHD. Of special interest to educators will be Dr. Weinberg’s emphasis on the interface of these issues with the educational needs facing children with ADHD. Participants will learn about psychological and educational conditions that can co-occur, exist independently, and sometimes simulate ADHD, as well as how to differentiate between true ADHD and these other conditions. A wide variety of interventions designed to improve the behavioral and educational adjustment of children with ADHD will be outlined and discussed.
