2012 Summer Class Offered:
Pedagogy of Outdoor PE—Sea Kayaking
Students will learn fundamental knowledge and skills in
teaching outdoor pursuits as applied to sea kayaking. The course
will emphasize trip planning, rescues, skill development and
risk management. Participants will sea kayak to and around Lake
Superior and the Apostle Islands and camp in the island state
parks (Oak Island or Sand). Trips to sea caves, sandy beaches
and a lighthouse are planned. No prior experience is necessary
but students must be comfortable in water. Kayaks, PFDs, camping
gear and food will be provided. Participants must provide
personal gear, including a sleeping bag.

July 25-29, Wednesday-Sunday: 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
July 24 (Optional paddle making workshop; cost $80 for supplies/instruction payable to instructor on-site)

3 credit* (GRAD), plus $240 for supplies payable to instructor on first day
*A $15 Registration Fee/semester and a $2/credit D2L (Desire2Learn) Fee is assessed to all undergraduate and graduate students each semester.
