    Summer Courses - Dive Into Summer

    The primary purpose of the Department of Educational Studies (DES) is to advance teaching and learning while preparing teacher leaders for a global society.

    We prepare teacher candidates to become teachers who ground curriculum in the lives of students; who embrace multicultural perspectives and uphold just teaching practices; value academically rigorous curriculum; and are culturally sensitive.

    Our programs

    Early Childhood-Middle Childhood
    Certificate: EC-MC (71-1777*)
    Certifiable major for developmental range birth through age 11 education. Does not require a minor.

    Middle Childhood - Early Adolescence
    Certificate: MC-EA  (72-1777*)
    Certifiable major for developmental range ages 6 through 12/13 education. Must complete a certifiable minor

    * "1777" denotes all subject areas for the EC-MC and MC-EA majors.  This certification number may change based on minor certification subject area.

    Early Childhood-Adolescence
    Certificate: EC-A  (74-1777*)
    Certifiable major for developmental range birth through age 21. Required to complete a content major.

    Special Education
    Certificate: 72-1801 or 73-1801
    Prepares teacher education candidates to earn a Cross-Categorical Special Education certification.
