Meeting Minutes - November 2, 2008

I. Gala
   -Applications
     +Due Nov. 10th

   -Silent Auction
     +Donations
        *Turn into Kathy (Mitchell 203) by Nov. 24th
        *If the donations are coming from home, turn into Kathy by Dec. 1st
     +Basket Assembly- Will need help in the future
     +Baskets- try to get them donated, may need to buy some.
   -Speaker- Matt Vogel
     +See if he wants to be initiated with us.
     +Will be speaking from 1pm-1:30pm (Before initiation)
     +Introduction of Matt by Karly
     +Topic of speech
       *Be Informed
       *What we can do personally and professionally within health education
       *Tie into what we're doing this year- Nutrition and being active
   -Food
     +Milk not included, but we'll be ordering some. Please designate on your application if anyone wants milk!
   -Theme
     +Masks- make beforehand as a social- come at 6:30pm instead of at 7:00pm on Nov. 16th
     +Supplies for the masks- Bring anything you have to decorate the masks to the meeting!
     +Decorations- balloons, masks as center pieces, CD's with music to be made by Rachel Weyer
II. Cookbooks
   -Selling them from Nov. 17th-Nov. 21st
   -All recipes due to Etasigmagamma@uwlax.edu Nov. 7th
   -Price
    +Each book costs $4.67, plan to make 100 copies and sell for about $8.00
   -Design
    +Eat Something Good
    +Design on cover to be posted on the website by Blair
    +Quotes on the bottom of pages
   -Contact People
    +Broke up into groups to contact different health people in the community and on campus
   -Layout/Composition
    +Be careful of copyright issues. Only take recipes form handwritten recipe cards. Do not copy directly from cookbooks.
    +Each group will have categories to request/prepare recipes for
      *Price- Snacks and Dorm Room Recipes
      *Design- Stress Relievers and Drinks
      *Contacts- Desserts and Professor's Favorites
      *Substitutes- Substitutes and Soups/Salads
    +Each person needs to submit two recipes
   -Substitutions
    +Section in back of the cookbook
III. Rotary Lights
   -November 20th from 9:00am-3:00pm
   -More people needed- please sign up!
   -Dress appropriately
   -Must have 4-6 people each shift- please be committed
   -Take index card and brainstorm things to hang on the tree about being informed. Turn into execs.
   -Staying here- November 28th- Lighting of the lights at the CenturyTel Building- Drawing for who will get to go- If you go help out at Rotary Lights you will be eligible for the drawing for whoever gets to go to the reception.
IV. Senate Update
   -SAH Senator Opening

    +Senate votes on Nov. 5th
    +Resolution asking Chancellor Gow to sign
    +Open Forum on Monday, November 3rd at 7:30pm in 260 GMH
  -Graduation Speakers
    +Know any graduating seniors who would be good speakers? Have them email fuhrmann.eric@students.uwlax.edu
  -VOTE on Tuesday, November 4th!
    +Polls open from 7am-8pm (anyone in line at 8pm will not be denied the right to vote)
    +Vote early on November 3rd at City Hall (400 La Crosse St.) between 8am-5pm.
    +MUST vote at your designated polling place
    +Go to http://vpa.wi.gov to see where you vote

        ~No proof of residency? Bring someone who can vouch for you- all they have to do is show there own proof of residency.
V. Exec Updates
  -Steph S.- Salvation Army Bell Ringing at Walgreens- 2 hours shifts. Sign up if interested.
  -Kristen- Attended WAHPHERD- interested in hearing about it, talk to her.
VI. Retreat- CANCELLED due to not enough participants. Will do a retreat in spring instead.
VII. Announcements
  -Be thinking about available Exec. positions next semester (Historian and Public Relations)
  -Mass advising Tomorrow (Monday)
  -Pay $100 registration free for Spring semester
  -Next meeting- 6:30pm, Nov. 16th in room 259 CC
