Undergraduate Research Committee
October 31, 2000

The third meeting of the Fall Semester 2000 for the Undergraduate Research Committee began at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, October 31.

Present: Lloyd Bogart, Bonnie Bratina, Anne Galbraith, Bill Gresens, Aaron Monte, Rick Rodrick, and Chia-Chen Yu.

Rick brought samples of fliers to advertise the grants informational session made by students in his course. The committee chose one with some modification and Rick will have them fixed up, copied, and put up Wednesday or Thursday. Plans were then made to have Bill and Rick attend the informational session on Nov. 6th at 6pm. Rick and Aaron will find one or two students to attend as well.

Bill said that a few fliers had come from Eau Claire regarding the UW-System Symposium on April 24th. We will try to get as many students there as possible, but it may be difficult since it's a Tuesday.

The remainder of the meeting consisted of a discussion of the web page. Several suggestions were made and Anne will make those changes by the end of the week. For the next meeting, Aaron will work on layout and content for the brochure, Chia-Chen will work on developing a paragraph introducing research at UWL, Bonnie will come up with a Get Started checklist, and Rick will solicit comments from students to put on the Student Perspectives page. Any other committee members who want to solicit comments from students as to how and/or why they got involved, please feel free to bring them to the next meeting as well!

Meeting ended at 5:20 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 14 at 4:15 p.m.
