GRADUATE COUNCIL MEETING
Minutes-Monday, March 25, 2002-9:00 a.m.

The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Dan Duquette, Chair.

1.            Approval of the minutes of February 25, 2002.

M/S/P to approve the minutes of February 25, 2002.  (6 yes, 0 no)

2.            Graduate Faculty Membership:

The following people will review Graduate Faculty Membership applications:

Tom Krueger and Kim Harbst…………………………………………MBA

The files can be reviewed in Fran’s office, 142 Mitchell Hall, between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.  If you are unable to read during these hours, please call Fran at 785-8124 and she will arrange for the office to be open.

Recommendations from the Graduate Faculty Membership Application Review Teams are due on April 2, 2002.

3.            Graduate Student Research Grants:  Dan passed a handout of the Graduate Student Research Grants submitted and the amounts.  (The amount for the following grant was omitted, “Characterization of an Altered Ribonuclease Profile Mutant in Arabidopsis thaliana”, $600.00).  Dan informed the council 14 applications were submitted and 14 applications approved.

 Tom Kreuger, Kim Harbst, and Dan Duquette were the reviewers for the Graduate Student Research Grant Applications.

4.            Graduate Faculty Policy:  Dan revised the Graduate Faculty Policy, copies were passed to the council members for their opinions and suggestions.  After a lengthy discussion, suggestions were given to Dan by the council members.  Dan will incorporate these suggestions, and present them for review by the Graduate Faculty Council at the April 8th meeting.

The new Graduate Faculty Policy and Procedures will be sent to the Faculty Senate when approved by the Graduate Council.
