GRADUATE COUNCIL MEETING
Minutes-Monday, April 22, 2002-9:00 a.m.
325 Graff Main Hall

The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Dan Duquette, Chair.

1.            Approval of the minutes of April 8, 2002.

M/S/P to approve the minutes of April 8, 2002.  (6 yes, 0 no)

2.         Dan read a letter to the Graduate Council from Chancellor Hastad granting approval for the Director of University Graduate Studies to report to the provost.

3.            Packets were given to the Graduate Council by Dan of the Graduate Faculty Policy, Graduate Faculty Criteria, Graduate Faculty Membership for Submission, and Graduate Faculty Membership Application .  The Graduate Council reviewed the documents, and discussed at length the procedures as listed.  A motion was made to approve the documents with some minor changes to number 8 on the Graduate Faculty Membership Procedures for Submission, and the             addition of a comment section on the Graduate Faculty Membership Application for the College Dean and Department Chair.

M/S/P to approve the entire packet on Graduate Faculty Policy, Graduate Faculty Criteria, Graduate Faculty Membership for Submission, and Graduate Faculty Membership Application with minor changes to number 8 of the Graduate Faculty Membership Procedures for Submission, and the addition of a comment section on the Graduate Faculty Membership Application for the College Dean and Department Chair.  (6 yes, 0 no)

4.      Graduate Faculty Membership Application Review:  The review process was started on Graduate Faculty Membership Applications.  Time did not allow the Graduate Council to finish the review of Graduate Faculty Applications, this process will be completed at the Graduate Council Meeting on May 6, 2002.
