The second meeting of the Spring Semester 2002 for the Undergraduate Research Committee began at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, February 28.

Present: Bonnie Bratina, Anne Galbraith, Bill Gresens, and Bob Ragan.

Bill is drafting a letter to the Celebration speaker and will send it soon.

The date for discussing proposals has been set for April 18 beginning at 530pm. The proposals will be ready for pick-up on April 1st, so we will have over two weeks to read through them. Rick will pick 2-3 students who were award recipients in the past to serve as student representatives for this meeting and the funding meeting, the date of which will be determined later.

Rick is going to urge CLS faculty to apply for a seat on URC for next year. It was suggested that such a letter go to department chairs of other "under-represented" departments as well.

Bonnie and Bob volunteered to edit the abstract submissions into an abstract book. It was suggested that an evaluation form be included in the front of the abstract book so we can get feedback about what worked and what didn't at this year's Celebration. We will also make an e-mail list of presenters from the submissions and send out e-mail reminders that their abstract has been accepted and they should go to the website to find out when they present. This means that the schedule has to be worked out with enough advance time that we can update the website to include this information.

The roundtable for grant submissions will be scheduled soon.

Meeting ended at 6:40 p.m.
