GRADUATE COUNCIL MEETING

Minutes

Friday, April 11, 2003-8:30 a.m.

325 Graff Main Hall

Members Present:    D. Dixon, D. Duquette, Chair, J. Finch, G. Gilmore,

                                M. Morzinski, S. N. Rajagopal, W. Schwan, G. Walsko

Members Excused:   T. Kernozek, S. Simpson

Consultants Present:   A. Dittman, R. Rada, C. Martin-Stanley

Consultants Excused:   B. May, D. Schumacher

The meeting was called to order by Dan Duquette, Chair at 1:20 p.m.

• Approval of the minutes of March 13, 2003.

M/S/P to approve the minutes of March 13, 2003.  (6 yes, 0 no)

• Dan informed the Graduate Council that a memo and e-mail will be sent to the Graduate Directors, Chairs of graduate programs, Deans, Provost and Donna Brown admissions in regards to Graduate Enrollment.  We have reached our target of 158 new graduate students for the fall of 2003.  (We can still admit Grad Specials).

• Applications for Graduate faculty Membership were reviewed.  The following actions were taken:

HPERTE

5 approved for Full Membership

5 approved for Associate Membership

6 approved for Assistant Membership

19 approved for Affiliate Membership

SAH

5 approved for Full Membership

3 approved for Associate Membership

4 approved for Affiliate Membership 

CLS

4 approved for Full Membership

1 approved for Associate Membership

1 incomplete application return to faculty member for additional information to support Full Membership.  (6 yes, 1 no)

CBA

2 approved for Full Membership

There were several applicants that failed to complete the new Application Form.  The motion was made to mandate applicants to complete the new application process.  If the applicant fails to complete the application process, it will delay membership for the person.  (7 yes, 0 no)
