Minutes of APR Committee Meeting
Wednesday, April 14, 2004
Meeting was held at 116 Cowley Hall at 11:00 A.M.
Present: Curt Czerwinski, Kasi Periyasamy, John Jax, Dean Stroud, Andy Matchett, Paul Keaton, Helen Skala, Georges Cravins
Absent: Richard Pein, Joan Temple
The meeting was called to order at 11:05 AM.
Chair Czerwinski indicated that the committee is preparing the final reports to submit to the Faculty Senate and the deadline is April 22, 2004. The reports that will be submitted are:
Recreation Management/Therapeutic Recreation
Clinical Science-Physician Assistant Studies
College of Business
The document "Format of APR Self-Study Report of Minors" was discussed. Item II(g) was added to the format based on the discussion in the previous meeting. The following changes were proposed:
Title : Format of APR Self-Study Report of Free-Standing Minors
Notes : Free-Standing Minors are those that are not ordinarily
reviewed with the major programs of a department.
Motion: To approve the document with the proposed changes. Carried: 7-0-0
The committee recommended to bring the following issues to the Faculty Senate:
1. When a new interdepartmental course is proposed, UCC must designate a
department or unit to take responsibility of the course in order to write the
self-study report for evaluation purposes. For existing courses, UCC can revisit
the course description and charge a department or unit in the same way.
2. Faculty senate should send letters to those departments or units whose review is due but did not submit self-study reports.
