STUDENT APPEALS MEETING

The meeting was called to order at 9:30 a.m. by Garth Tymeson, Chair.
The following student appeals were heard by the Graduate Council:
- Student #1 (Biology): The Graduate Council reviewed an appeal for readmission, and granted permission for Student #1 to return for graduate study in the spring 2004, with the following stipulation:
- Student #1 must attain 3.0 or higher cumulative graduate GPA after completion of last 7 credit hours of graduate study (or by the end of the Spring 2004 semester).
- Student #2 (PT): The Graduate Council reviewed an appeal for readmission, and granted permission for Student #2 to return for graduate study in the spring 2004, with the following stipulation:
- Student #2 must attain a 3.0 or higher cumulative graduate GPA by the end of the Spring 2004 semester.
- The Graduate Council also strongly recommended that Student #2 consider working with Dr. Kernozek on a project to assist with further mastery of content in the P-T 523 Kinesiology & Biomechanics course.
- Student #3 (PT): The Graduate Council reviewed an appeal for readmission, and granted permission for Student #3 to return for graduate study in the spring 2004, with the following stipulation:
- Student #3 must attain a 3.0 or higher cumulative graduate GPA by the end of the Spring 2004 semester.
- The Graduate Council also strongly recommended that Student #3 consider working with a faculty member on a project to assist with further mastery of the content in the P-T 522 Physiology course.
- Student #4 (PT): The Graduate Council reviewed an appeal for
readmission to graduate study in Physical Therapy, Student #4 was dismissed from graduate study following the fall 2003 term for not attaining a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher after being placed on probation (after the Summer 2003 term). Student #4's appeal was denied. The following options were discussed with Student #4:
· The Graduate Council approved Student #4 to enroll as a nondegree graduate student and to enroll in approved graduate courses as a special nondegree student. In addition, Student #4 can choose in the future to reapply to the Physical Therapy graduate program. Student #4’s application to the Physical Therapy program would be considered with all other new applicants.
