2005-2006 Year-end Report

1.  The committee conducted a fall grants competition resulting in 56 proposal submissions.  Following extensive evaluation, 55 of these were funded for a total of $58,237.

2.  The committee conducted a fall grants competition resulting in 46 proposal submissions.  Following extensive evaluation, 43 of these were funded for a total of $46,234

3.  The committee planned, organized, and oversaw the Ninth Annual UW-L Celebration of Undergraduate Research and Creativity.  This highly successful event included 27 oral presentations and 83 poster presentations.  There were approximately 850 attendees, the second-highest (to the Eighth annual Celebration) in the history of the event.  The chair makes a special commendation to Dr. Rick Rodrick, Communication Studies, for his extraordinary level of effort in making this event a success. 

4.  The committee was successful in persuading the Student Senate to increase Academic Initiatives funding to $2,500 in FY 07.
