Minutes of the Instructional Academic Staff Committee – Final Copy

  1. Discussion over the results of the meeting with the Provost.  Issues of titling and progression were agreed upon by the committee and the Provost.

 

Regarding Career Progression, the committee voted to allow all IAS to accrue for the purpose of career progression.

M/S/A  (9,0,0)  For Career Progression tracking and eligibility purposes only, % appointment will be calculated in the following manner:  39% and below = 25%, 40 to 74% = 50% and 75 to 100% = 100%.

 

Regarding Workload , the committee voted to allow a range that specified a minimum and maximum workload definition.

M/S/A  (8,0,0)  Determination of full-time equivalency will be based on a maximum load of 12 to 15 contact hours.  Actual workload will be determined by the bylaws of the academic department in which the IAS is assigned.

 

  1. The committee will inform the provost of our decisions and we agree to present the information to Senate on March 9.

 

  1. The committee discussed an Open Forum for all IAS to learn of our proposal to Senate and to collect information regarding other issues of concern.  The Open Forum will be Friday, February 24 from 1 to 3PM in Cartwright 339.
