1.             M/S/P to approve minutes of September 26, 2006 meeting.

 

2.             First Readings:

                Biology Proposal:

                Note for all majors add: BIO 495 Cannot count toward minimum 400-level credits

                Biology Major (general)—add elective choices: BIO 405 and 468

                Biology Major (Teacher Ed)—add elective choice BIO 468;

                Biology Major (Environmental Conc)—No action needed; Approved last year

                Biology Major (Cellular Conc)—Move BIO 440 from elective to required course, move MIC 230 from required to elective, add

                electives BIO 449, 468, delete C-S 101 as requirement

                Biology Major (Biomedical Conc)—Move BIO 408 or 424 or 465 from required to electives, add elective BIO 468, delete C-S 101

                (or skills) requirement

                Biology Major (Aquatic Conc)—delete C-S 101 (or skills) requirement

 

Committee requests that the Biology Department consult with the Computer Science Department regarding deletion of C-S 101. 1st reading, There will be a 2nd reading.

                Adapted Physical Education Concentration—Change title from “Special” PE Conc; Change credits from 14 to 15; change required

                courses to add ESS 437 and delete ESS 435; Change admissions requirements from 2.5 to 2.75 GPA, BC in ESS231, admission to

                PETE

               

      New Course, ESS 437, “Teaching & Service Delivery Models in Adapted Physical Education”, 3 credits

This course focuses on adapted physical education teaching strategies and service delivery models in PK-12 settings. Instructional programming and best practices in early childhood, elementary, middle/secondary, and transitional programs for students with disabilities in adapted physical education are covered. Emphasis is on collaboration among professional service providers such as special educators, regular physical educators, and related service personnel (e.g., occupational, physical, and recreational therapists), as well as allied health and other community agency staff. School site visits and practical teaching are included, along with guest presentations on related disciplines and programs. Prerequisite: Admission to the Adapted Physical Education Concentration and ESS 436 (or concurrent enrollment).

          REC 105 Multicultural Recreation and Cultural Competency, approved 11/2005—add RTH prefix to cross-list course.

                                                                   Extending BA/BS degree requires system notification only.

10.           Dean approved General Education substitutions:
