  3. First Readings:

 

    1. BIO 433/533 Radiation Biology, 3 cr.  Change instructional pattern from Lecture 2, Lab 3 to Lecture 2, Lab 2.

 

M/S/P to waive the 2nd reading and approve.

 

    1. POL 361, Research Methods in Politics and Government, 3cr. Change prerequisite from POL 101 or 102, MTH 145, 15 credits in POL and junior standing to POL 101 and 6 additional credits in POL.

 

The committee requested that the POL department discuss change in prerequisites with the MTH dept. even though department already emailed MTH dept. This was the  1st  reading.  

 

    1. ART Proposal:

Bradfield Art Major: 54 credits, including ART 104, 106, 205, 214, 216, 218, 221, 251, and 252; and one course from ART 331, 332, 341, 399, 499; and 18 credits of electives in Art including APH 202 (C-I 312 and C-I 313 are required in addition to the major. Take the C-I 313 first.)

 

Art Research courses in CLS college core for BS – Art History courses from ART 251 and 252, and one elective from ART 331, 332, 341. In addition, one course from ART 303, 400, 405, 408, 413, 414, 418, 419, 421 must be completed.

ART 207, Introduction to Computer Graphic Design, 3cr.  New Course

This course provides an introduction to and a survey of computer graphic design. Students will develop an understanding of the basic design principals, typography, design problems and solutions, and composition. Graphic design software will be explored. Prerequisite: ART 104. Lecture 1, Lab 4.

 

ART 308 Change title from ‘Computer Art’ to ‘Intermediate Computer Graphic Design’, course description, and prerequisites. Dept communicated with C-S dept. Note: Replaces proposal that received 1st reading 4/25/06.

 

ART 408 Change title from ‘Computer Graphic Design’ to ‘Advanced Computer Graphic Design’, course description, and prerequisites.

 

ART 314 Change title from ‘Advanced Sculpture’ to ‘Intermediate Sculpture’, course description, and prerequisites.

 

ART 414 Change title from ‘Individual Problems in Sculpture’ to ‘Advanced Sculpture’, course descriptions, and prerequisites.

 The committee requested that the course outline for ART 207 be provided, as well as TEGC endorsement and CLS approval. This was the 1st reading.  

 

    1. THA Proposal:

THA 120 Acting for Non-Majors, 3 cr. New Course

This course will emphasize the development of the actor’s instrument, by introducing the student to the basic imaginative, physical and vocal skills necessary for acting. It will prepare them to create, discuss, rehearse, and perform. The student will apply these techniques in an interactive studio setting.

 

THA 230 Change title from ‘Fundamentals of Theatrical Production’ to ‘Foundations of Theatrical Art’ and course description.

 

THA 422 Acting IV: Audition Techniques, 3 cr. New Course

This is an upper level acting course that will work specifically on the art technique of auditioning. This course will further develop and expand the range and skill of the performance student by exploring the audition process. Students will learn basic stage and camera audition techniques develop an extensive repertoire of audition monologues and research career opportunities. It will prepare the students for a variety of audition styles and situations. Prerequisite: THA 220, 320, 321.

 

 The committee requested principal activities be provided for THA 120 and list of emphases to which THA 422 applies. This was the  1st reading.  

 

    1. SPA Proposal:

Spanish Major (Teacher Certification) Add requirement of SPA 331, Spanish Phonetics, SPA 320, Spanish Civilization, and SPA 321, Spanish American Civilization.

 

Spanish Minor (Teacher Certification) Add requirement of SPA 331, Spanish Phonetics, SPA 320, Spanish Civilization, and SPA 321, Spanish American Civilization.

 

SPA 330 Change course number from 430.

 

The committee requested TEGC endorsement before approval. This was the 1st reading.  

 

    1. CHM 330, Industrial Chemistry, 3 cr.  New Course

An overview of both the scientific and commercial aspects of the chemical industry. Industrially important chemical processes will be discussed. Topics will include production and end use of basic inorganic various chemical processes will be presented. Global and local topics such as regulatory compliance, product liability, and patent/trade secret documentation may also be discussed. Prerequisite: CHM 300 or 303.

 

M/S/P to waive the 2nd reading and approve.

 

Nuclear Medicine Technology Major Change program description and change electives.

 

M/S/P to waive the 2nd reading and approve.

 

                                Biochemistry Major Change program credits from 40 to 41, required courses, and electives.

 

The committee requested further justification for increasing the major to 1 credit over the 40 credit Extent of Major policy limit. This was the 1st reading.
