The chair announced that several departments and several programs were delinquent with regard to notifying the chair of the primary and secondary student learning outcomes for their courses in the General Education program.  As a result of subsequent discussion a motion was made.

M/S As assessment is an integral part of General Education, the GEC asks the chair of Gen Ed to notify the delinquent departments and programs who have not completed Asn #1, that, while we do not want to remove their Gen Ed courses from the program, the Gen Ed committee expects the Asn#1 to be completed by February 29, 2008, with cc to deans and provost.

Withdrawal of Motion:

After considerable discussion, the motion was withdrawn.

Revised motion:

M/S/P The GEC views the assessment process as an integral part of the Gen Ed program and we value your information.  However, because nearly all departments complied with the request we will be moving forward with our analysis of the SLO data without your input unless we receive it by February 29th.  A copy of the directions and other useful information is attached for your convenience.
