Old Business -
Beth Cherne: no negative responses to solicitation for comments on THA 130; approved to include in GE, voice vote, unanimous
New -
Shauna Sallmen: In GE category C, AST/PHY “155 or 156,” though substantially different now & should be equally available
(the “or” in GE description not actually on original LX form);
M/S/P, “both could apply equally to GE”; voice vote, unanimous
Discussion of GE video for freshman orientation:
- not recruiting purpose; some content but minimal, “GE is a good thing”
- make informative: what do students get? / a “big” program
- remake using a student focus; recruit students from CST, THA, or more
(internship credits)?
Need form/process for dropping course from GE; other dept.s affected need notification/input
SLO Review: Grid of all GE courses & identified SLOs -
- System has 5 broad outcomes; let’s not diverge or conflict
- tabulate quantity; start-up of assessment using SLO shows some that are unmeasurable, some barely addressed though all included
among in assessment instruments
- perhaps consider “merging” not dropping outcomes
- set a target date for finishing?
- need to sort out difference btw. GE & university-wide goals
