GRADUATE COUNCIL MINUTES

Friday, February 13, 2009  -  10:00 a.m.

Members Present:        Rob Dixon, Vijendra Agarwal, Glenn Wright, S.N. Rajagopal, Kasi Periyasamy, Dave Reineke, Jim Finch, Carol Angell, Tom Kernozek

The meeting was called to order at 10:05 am by Rob Dixon.

1.      Announcements

VJ reminded the committee of the joint meeting of the GC with the program directors and provost scheduled for Friday Feb. 27.  The discussion at that meeting will center on the Bologna process.  He also announced a list of tentative agenda items for the remainder of the GC meetings for the spring 2009 semester.

2.      Selection of committees for :

a         Grad Faculty review – Rob, Dave, Tom, Raj, and Jim

b        Thesis review – Dave and ?????

c         RSEL Grants review – Glenn and Dave

3.      Academic Dismissal Appeal Process

A draft copy of a revised Academic Dismissal Appeal Process from the GC executive committee was discussed.  Discussion centered on a greater representation of the role and authority of the program and college as well as some reference to department bylaws in the appeal process.
