M/S/P to approve the minutes of 10/4/2010
The committee heard a student appeal. The student requested that ACC 327 count as a second writing emphasis course. The course officially became a writing emphasis course the semester after the student took the course. Both the instructor of the course and Brian Kopp (the writing emphasis coordinator) agree the content of the course matched the writing emphasis requirements when the student took the course.
M/S/P to approve the appeal and count ACC 327 as a second writing emphasis course for the student.
Anne Galbraith reported that for 63 of 115 courses Form A has been approved, formally submitted or entered as a draft.
General discussion of materials provided by Patrick Barlow. The materials included a snapshot of the assessment results for Knowledge of Human Cultures and the Natural World area from 2008-09 and 2009-10, Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA) data from 2007-08 and National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) data from 2008. The committee discussed how we could use this data to assess the overall quality of the GenEd program. No conclusions were reached. At the next meeting Patrick Barlow will provide additional data and we will continue the discussion about how to use assessment data that has been collected.
The meeting adjourned at 4:40.
