Minutes of the Faculty Senate Scholarship & Awards Committee
September 13, 2010

Members Present: David Hart, Linda Levinson, Ryan McKelley, Ryan Perroy, William Ross, Drew Stapleton, Sherwin Toribio, Theodore Wendt

Also Present: Sara Olson.

The meeting was convened at 3:50 p.m. in the Allen Conference Room at Cleary Alumni Center by David Hart.

After introductions of those present, David Hart led a discussion of the committee’s charge, including its primary responsibility of screening applications for UW-L scholarships and recommending their recipients.

David Hart volunteered to serve as Chair for the committee. The motion was seconded, and with no further discussion the motion to elect David Hart as Chair was carried by unanimous vote of those present.

Ted Wendt volunteered to serve as Recorder for the committee. The motion was seconded, and with no further discussion the motion to elect Ted Wendt as Recorder was carried by unanimous vote of those present.

After the elections, Sara Olson provided information on the scholarships to be reviewed as well as a timeline for reviewing the applications. Sara also provided details on the number of applications that might be expected for each scholarship, and a discussion was held regarding the general screening procedures that the Committee has followed in previous years. It was noted that committee’s work will primarily occur between approximately Feb. 15 and Mar. 15, 2010.

The committee tentatively decided to refrain from scheduling a second meeting until course assignments for spring semester are made. The Chair will contact the committee again in early December to select the time and location of the second meeting.

A motion to adjourn was made and seconded, and the meeting adjourned at 4:15 pm.
