Gainful Employment Programs/Information
Federal regulations require that institutions disclose certain information on educational programs that they offer that do not lead to a degree. Those programs would include certificate programs. Currently, UW-La Crosse offers one such program which is a certificate in Medical Dosimetry. Information and the required disclosures related to the gainful employment of those students enrolling in the Medical Dosimetry program are provided below.
Q. What type of work will the Dosimetry program prepare me for?
A. The field of Medical Dosimetry involves the measurement and calculation of dose for the treatment of cancer patients. Dosimetrists use their knowledge of physics, anatomy, and radiobiology to develop an optimal arrangement of radiation portals to spare normal and radiosensitive tissues while applying a prescribed dose to the targeted disease volume. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) in its Standard Occupational Classification lists radiation therapist (29-1124). Dosimetrists are included in 29-1124 as a subset of Radiation Therapists.
Q. How much will the program cost me?
A. For 2012-13, the cost is $449 per credit
for tuition and fees. The estimated cost of attendance for the
