Our lab facilities support both
student and faculty research, and include hands-on equipment used in physical
geography and earth science courses. These labs provide the materials and
facilities necessary for the physical, chemical, and biological analysis of
soils and freshwater sediment cores. Students also have access to advanced
field equipment for terrestrial and aquatic field mapping as well as obtaining
soil and water samples. Additional lab
and field equipment are available through collaborators in the UWL RiverStudies Center and the UWL Archaeological Studies Program.
This lab features a wide variety of field equipment for the
collection and analysis of geologic and botanic samples. Students have access to up-to-date scientific
instruments for the study of sediment and biotic specimens towards the investigation
and recreation of past and present environments.
The Soils Lab provides all the equipment necessary to conduct in-depth soil
analysis for both course work and research.
The Field Lab contains a wide
variety of surveying equipment to give students hands-on experience in physical
geography and earth science courses, as well as for practical use in
