Individual Research Consultations

Use this form (below) to request an appointment for a research consultation with a reference librarian.

  1. Murphy Library Research Consultations provide an opportunity for individuals to meet with a reference librarian for in-depth and personal assistance with a specific advanced research project.

  2. Research consultations are offered as a supplement to regular reference services.  Please consider whether we might be able to effectively help you by stopping by the reference desk, by email, or by telephone before requesting a research consultation.

  3. You should have a clearly defined research goal already established.

  4. You should be able to discuss what you have already found and where you have already looked.

  5. When suggesting days and times that would work for your schedule, allow for sessions of up to an hour.  Typical consultation sessions may last 15 - 30 minutes.

  6. Once you complete the form, you will hear back (via email) from a reference librarian.  You will then work with that librarian to finalize the day, time and place for your meeting.

  7. Sessions will usually be held in the library, but arrangements can also be made to meet in faculty/staff offices.

  8. This service offered to UW-L students, faculty, and staff.
