Provides access to citations and abstracts for over 8,000 magazines and
journals, with full text access to over half these titles. For

With content from Black Biographical Dictionaries (1790-1950)
and Black Biography (1790-1950): Cumulative Index, this
resource includes portraits of well-known and everyday African
American such as activists, business people, former slaves, artists,
educators, lawyers, physicians, writers, church leaders, homemakers,
athletes, farmers, and scientists. As the database continues to
grown, obituary files, slave narrative collections, internet sites,

African American Music Reference (Alexander
Street Press):
Is a new resource that will eventually contain 50,000 pages of
coverage of blues, jazz, spirituals, civil rights songs, slave
songs, minstrelsy, rhythm and blues, gospel, and other forms of
black American musical expression. The fall 2007 release includes
1304 essays and images from 36 sources, over 13506 pages. Content
includes biographies of 185 African American composers and
5,000 pages of liner notes from Document Records.
