Choral Music Emphasis
(Open to students within the School of Education-6-12 teaching licensure)
Course Work
60 credits, including music core requirements and the following courses:
- MUS 149 - Keyboard Competencies IV
- MUS 211 - Basic Conducting
- MUS 212 - Folk & Classroom Instruments I
- MUS 213 - Folk & Classroom Instruments II
- MUS 263 - Introduction to Music Technology
- MUS 318 - Advanced Choral Conducting
- MUS 321 - Choral Arranging
- MUS 322 - Choral Techniques
- C-I 306 - Choral Music in the Junior/Senior High School
Applied Music
6 credits which must include:
- 1 credit of applied piano at the 300 level
- 2 credits of applied vocal lessons at the 300 level
- 1 credit at the 400 level
Large Ensembles
6 credits to be selected from:
- MUS 153 - Concert Choir
- MUS 157 - Mannerchor
- MUS 159 - Women's Chorus
- MUS 167 - Choral Union
(two credits must be from MUS 153 and/or 167)
Small Ensembles
2 credits
Electives
6 credits.
Note
Both successful completion of MUS149 with a grade of "B" or above and completion of the recital requirement (400 level, applied music) must be accomplished prior to student teaching.
