WEBSTER UNIVERSITY-VIENNA
Webster University, Vienna, established in 1981, is part of an international network that includes campuses in London, Leiden, Geneva, Cha-am, and Shanghai as well as the home campus in St. Louis, Missouri.  Webster's international faculty boasts both academic standing and professional expertise representing 15 different nations. The instructional style is American, the language of instruction is English, but classroom participation is cross-cultural.

VIENNA
Once the leading city in Central Europe, Vienna continues to benefit from its past glory. Much of the town's 18th-century charm and 19th-century grandeur has remained despite Vienna's development into a large, modern city. The Old World ambience of the city is determined as much by attitude as architecture; the Viennese invented cafe society, and they continue to perfect the art of sophisticated relaxation. Nowhere else in Europe are you so aware of a sense of warmth and friendly comfort, and this feeling is so prized by the Viennese that they refer to it by name: Gemutlichkeit (literally, "coziness"). Time must be spent in the citadels of friends and relaxing over Apfelstrudel and coffee. Enjoy the rich variety of culture and art!

ACADEMIC PROGRAM
C
ourse information can be found on their website at: http://www.webster.edu/studyabroad/austria/courses.shtml.

COURSE EQUIVALENCIES
The course equivalencies spreadsheets have been compiled from past approved Academic Plan forms.  They show when the course was last approved and how it transferred back to La Crosse.  You may notice that some classes satisfied several UWL options.

This list is not comprehensive nor does it take the place of  meeting with your advisor for final approval!  They are meant to be a guide of what courses may be appropriate for your studies abroad.

HOUSING AND MEALS
Housing is in double rooms in residence halls.  Kitchen facilities, lounge area, and bathroom facilities are shared among the residents of the floors.  Meals are not included, allowing students more flexibility in dining.  Details may be found on-line at: http://www.webster.edu/studyabroad/austria/housing.shtml.

PASSPORTS & VISAS
Before you travel abroad, you will need to obtain a passport, which will serve as proof of your U.S. citizenship. A passport may allow you to gain entry to (and exit from) other countries. Depending on the country to which you're traveling, a visa may be required as well. Entry requirements vary from one country to another. The U.S. State Department issues travel warnings specific to certain countries, and offers tips and publications relevant to travel abroad generally. Well in advance of your departure, you should also familiarize yourself with international travel health issues, and health recommendations specific to your destination.
