What is Catch-A-Cure?
Catch-A-Cure is a Lung Cancer Awareness Fundraiser developed by University of Wisconsin - La Crosse Students with support from Gundersen Lutheran. It will be an Ice Fishing Tournament with many other "Family Fun" activities.
What is our objective with this Fundraiser?
Major advances have been made within the medical field in regards to medical oncology/cancer research, but Lung Cancer remains the leading cause of cancer death in the United States. This fundraiser is being put on to raise money for Lung Cancer research at Gundersen Lutheran and Lung Cancer awareness in La Crosse and surrounding communities. Here's a few reasons why we became motivated:
1. Lung cancer kills more individuals than Breast, Prostate, Liver, Colorectal, and Ovarian Cancer COMBINED.
2. Only 5% of all government funding for cancer research is given for Lung Cancer.
Who is organizing this event?
Over 15 clubs on the UW-La Crosse campus are assisting with planning/organization of the event. We would also like to thank Gundersen Lutheran, the Oncology Research Staff, and the Lung Cancer Awareness Committee for helping out with many of the organizational aspects of this event.
Where will this Fundraiser take place?
This fundraiser will be held on Saturday, February 13th from 9 A.M.*-3 P.M at Lake Onalaska by Shafer's Boat and Bait (Highway Z off of Highway 35).
**Don't want to drive? We will be having bus transports leaving from the UW-L Recreation Center at these times:
Bus Times:
Going to the Fundraiser: 9:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. once every hour
Returning from the Fundraiser: The final bus will bring people back at 3:00 P.M.
*Note that the Ice Fishing Tournament starts at 7 A.M., but all other events begin at 9 A.M.
There are many hotels in the La Crosse/Onalaska area that you can stay at. Click here to search hotels!
Otherwise, you may choose from one of these hotels that have rooms saved specifically for Catch-A-Cure participants, both Friday and Saturday nights!!

Brookstone Inn - $50/room (10 rooms available)
Econolodge - $44.99/room (all rooms)

How
much does it cost to enter?
At different times before and the day of the event, buttons will be sold for $5 and that will qualify you for all Catch-A-Cure Fundraiser activities, not including the Ice Fishing and Snow Football Tournaments. Here's a picture of our button logo for this year's event:

Are
donations accepted?
Of course! We will be placing Donation Cans around La Crosse and Onalaska in January, as well as having a few other fundraisers as well. Donations will be accepted the day of the fundraiser.
