- Academic Staff Professional Development Grants Support individual professional development, improvement of program quality, and improvement of institutional effectiveness.

- Faculty Research Grants Support investigative activities, i.e., scholarly efforts to advance knowledge, increase skills, and improve understanding in any academic discipline.
- Faculty Sabbaticals Contact your college office for information about sabbatical leaves.
- International Development Fund (Faculty & Academic Staff) Support projects that develop international involvement with established programs with universities and agencies in other countries; encourage faculty and staff research, scholarly exchanges, professional development and travel that enhance the internationalization of the university and its curriculum.
- Online Education Grants Support development of fully online courses.
- UWL Foundation Small Grants Support instruction, research and public service. Funds are provided by alumni, local businesses, matching gift companies and other friends of the University.

- Emerging Technology Pilot Grants-Awards up to $5,000 for projects that will advance the innovative use of technology for teaching and learning, and projects related to faculty and instructional development in the effective use of technology in teaching and learning. Applicants should contact Jim Jorstad, UWL Learning Technology Development Council Representative, before writing the proposal.

- Growth Agenda Grants-These grants support UW System growth agenda action steps including projects related to: 1) New pathways to degrees and other related initiatives to enhance educational opportunities for Wisconsin’s underserved adult population, 2) New or Expanded Projects for a Wisconsin KnowHow2Go Network, enlisting college undergraduates, faculty, and staff as mentors to K-12 students, 3) Collaboration with PK-12 community to enrich college preparation in the area of Mathematics, and 4) New or Expanded Projects for the development of a Student Engagement Portfolio. - Deadlines:
- PK-16 Initiative: Teacher Quality Initiative-(There is no RFP for these grants for 2009-10). Supports campus activities that will advance the successful implementation of PI 34 (state rules governing ed. prep. programs) and the delivery of quality educational preparation programs built upon a foundation of all-university responsibility and broad-based collaboration (BOR resolution, June 2001). Funding supports activities related to the initial preparation and/or on-going professional development of teachers.

- Racial and Ethnic Studies Grants-Support for research, curriculum development, miscellaneous projects such as events and lectures, minority faculty research/retention awards, seed grants to pursue collaboration and extramural funding, and campus reading seminars.
- Deadline: The UW-La Crosse Deadline for submitting grants is MARCH 9, 2009. Submit an electronic copy of the proposal to grants@uwlax.edu. Fill out and include the 2 page Grant Application Form. The signatures of the Provost and Grants Officer will be added after you submit the proposal.

- Wisconsin ESEA Improving Teacher Quality Program (WITQ)-Support for increasing student achievement in the arts, civics and government, economics, English, foreign languages, geography, history, mathematics, reading or language arts, and science, by improving the teaching and principal quality at the K-12 level in Wisconsin's public and private schools. The funds will provide grants to eligible partnerships.

- Wisconsin Teaching Fellows and Teaching Scholars Programs-A UW System Program that supports early-career teachers (Teaching Fellow) and later-career teachers (Teaching Scholar) to engage in a year long study of teaching and learning. UWL supports one Teaching Fellow and one Teaching Scholar annually.
