UW-L and La Crosse School District (SDLX) Collaborative Grants

Collaborative grants are grants that in some way involve and benefit both the School District of La Crosse (SDLX) and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UW-L). UW-L faculty/staff and SDLX teachers and administrators work together to plan projects that in some way address the needs of students, teachers, faculty/staff, or some combination thereof. Examples of collaborative projects that have been funded in the past include:

  • University pre-service teachers (undergraduate students majoring in education) as K-12 classroom interns
  • UW-L faculty providing in-service workshops and professional development for teachers, and vice versa
  • Both UW-L and SDLX receiving needed resources, equipment or supplies
  • SDLX serving as a source of university research that will improve education (e.g., teacher surveys)
  • Inter-level student mentoring, such as university students serving as tutors and mentors for after-school programs
  • Early student and/or teacher recruitment
