Registrar Selected
The Provost is happy to announce that Dr. Chris Bakkum has accepted the role of Registrar at UW-La Crosse.  Her official start date for the permanent position is July 1, 2008. Dr. Bakkum holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from UW-Madison and has served in a number of different administrative roles at UW-L (Assistant to the Dean in the College of Liberal Studies, Interim Director of the Master of Education-Professional Development graduate program, Director of the Student Affairs Administration graduate program, co-Director of the University Honors Program, interim Registrar/Enrollment Services Manager). Dr. Bakkum has also worked at UW System in the office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Bakkum brings over 20 years of experience in curriculum consulting, development and implementation to the position of Registrar, along with a strong commitment to student development and student learning. The Provost appreciates the campus involvement in the selection (there were over 40 participants at each open forum) and the work of the search & screen committee comprised of Angie Lee, Betsy Morgan, Karla Stanek, Lore Vang, & Jan Von Ruden.  Chancellor Joe Gow said he was delighted that Dr. Bakkum will be serving as UW-L’s Registrar adding “Chris is an outstanding administrator and a wonderful colleague – we’re very fortunate to benefit from her talents.”

The Use of Person ID Numbers
Faculty and staff at UW-L should be completing their transition to using their person ID numbers rather than social security numbers (SSN).  One of the arenas in which social security numbers should be replaced with person ID numbers is on personnel related forms such as Travel Expense Reports (TER) and Extraordinary Payment Forms.  These forms are transferred between multiple offices and it is for your protection that person IDs should be used rather than SSNs.  When TERs are submitted for students – their student ID numbers can be used.

E-portfolio Deadline for Faculty & Instructional Academic Staff
JUNE 1, 2008 is the date by which all faculty and IAS need to have their activities entered into the system regarding the 2007-2008 year’s teaching, scholarship and service for annual reports.  Full documentation is available at  Reminder: Your Digital Measures password is set by you and is not the same as your email 8.4 password unless you change it in every time you change your email password. Digital Measures passwords do not expire and are changed within the Digital Measures system.
