Student in laser labThe UW-L Physics Department offers both a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and a Dual Degree in Physics/Engineering. In addition, the Department features emphases in special areas: Astronomy, Optics, and Computational Physics, as well as physics degrees with Business or Biomedical Concentrations.

The Department has been very successful in obtaining external grants to fund its state-of-the-art laboratories and computer facilities. Undergraduate research opportunities exist in laser physics, nuclear physics, biomechanics, materials science or computational physics. The Department sponsors an active Physics Club and also conducts a weekly seminar series as well as a annual Distinguished Lecture series.
