Dr. Heim specializes in public administration and local area politics.  Dr. Heim has become a well known local commentator and, with Dr. Rodgers, is responsible for the public opinion surveys for local government and media performed by the department.  Dr. Heim is married to Pat, a local attorney.  His passions include fine dining, travel, and support for the Packers and Brewers.  Dr. Heim taught at UW-La Crosse from 1968 to 1971 prior to going to graduate  school at UW-Milwaukee, returning to UW-La Crosse in 1975.
