Winona State University and St. Mary's University are two of the four Universities that make up the Eagle Battalion ROTC program. What makes Winona State University and St. Mary's University special is that both are located in Winona, MN. In the past, cadets who participated in ROTC at these universities traveled to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse to take their Military Science Classes, Physical Readiness Training, and Leadership Labs.
As of 2008, ROTC teaches all Military Science classes, Physical Readiness training, and Leadership labs in Winona. Cadets no longer have to travel to La Crosse weekly, but take classes on campus which are taught by the ROTC Military Science instructors.
The ROTC program in Winona has grown to 20 cadets, and its numbers continue to increase.
