University Honors

There are two types of honors—commencement and graduation. Commencement honors determine which students may wear an honor cord during commencement exercises. To be eligible, students must have earned no fewer than 45 semester credits in residence at UW-L prior to the beginning date of the term in which they intend to graduate. Honors requires at least a 3.50 cumulative UW-L GPA; highest honors requires at least a 3.75 cumulative UW-L GPA. Request honor cords when you pick up your cap and gown at the bookstore. Master’s degree candidates do not wear honor cords. If you have a question about honors status, please contact Sharyn, at the Records Office at (608) 785-8751.

Graduation honors are posted on transcripts if students have earned at least 60 credits in residence at UW-L and have at least a 3.50 cumulative UW-L GPA after the last term in residence. (3.75 for highest honors).
