International Information

On September 6th, 2007, we launched a new dimension to the SAA program -- the SAA International Initiative. Our goals are to:

  • create connections with our own International Ed Office and international students that are currently part of the UW-L community;

  • explore international opportunities for internships;

  • expand UW-L J-term offerings to including study abroad courses related to student affairs for SAA students, colleagues, and alums.

After a year of work, we have the following update:

  1. In January, 2009, we are offering the "SAA Study Tour to the UK" which is open to current students, alumni, emeritus faculty, UW-L colleagues, friends, and families! The trip will include a tour and informational sessions at three universities in Scotland and a cultural weekend in London. Informational meetings will be held in October through December. Please contact Dorrie Unertl, Study Tour Coordinator, at unertl.dorr@students.uwlax.edu if you would like to join this first-ever SAA international event!

  2. Our new SAA graduate assistant, Kristin, will be coordinating the connection between our students and the International Education office this fall. Stay tuned for more details from her.

  3. We are making some early connections with colleagues in the UK for possible future internship opportunities. Although it make take a few years before we can actually offer our students this opportunity, we are very excited about the potential for this program.

    Please check this site for information related to international opportunities both for our current students, alumni, UW-L colleagues and friends. We would also be very pleased to hear from our international colleagues and friends from around the world. We are particularly interested in connecting with potential international students who might be interested in our online program or our on-campus program in La Crosse.
